Game 14 Thread-vs. Phoenix

Today, the Lightning retired the numbers of Ian, Joel, and Mark Kinsey as well as Jacob and Kaitlyn Thompson before their game against Phoenix.

After the first pitch at 1:30 PM, the Lightning brought their game as pitcher Alex Carson carried a perfect game into the fifth where it was broken up with a single with one out.  The next batter sent one into the left field bleachers for Phoenix's only two runs.  From the plate, Carson had 2 home runs, while Sam Neidermann, Michael Linnen, and Heather Bates each added a home run.  In addition, other starters Andrew Mees and Samantha Linnen both contributed with 2 RBIs each.  The Lightning got a lead-off homer from Michael Linnen, then added to it with a 2-run shot by Carson two batters later.  The Bolts then got 5 in the second and 4 in the third before finally being held in the fourth inning.  In the fifth inning, Sam Neidermann sent one into the right field bleachers for his fourth of the year to make it 13-2.  In the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded, Carson sent one over the fence in left field to make it 17-2 on the grand slam.  That would prove to be the final score.  Carson now has 18 home runs and is on pace for 41, 12 best than his league record 29 from last season.  Michael Linnen now has 17 home runs and is on pace for 39 homers, 25 more than his 14 last season.  Finally, Heather Bates now has 8 homers and is on pace for 18, which would top her 2007 career high of 15.  The Lightning host Las Vegas tomorrow at Linnen Yards at the Nicholas Carson Memorial Sports Complex.
